This week on The Practice Plan, we’re revisiting a foundational tool: Complaint to Commitment.

Complaints can often get a bad reputation. It’s easy to criticize ourselves when we slip into complaining. Or, ironically, complain about others when we perceive them as complaining too much. Often our response to complaints is to over-indulge them, or on the contrary, shut them down and move past them as quickly as possible.

But I see a lot of value in complaints… when used properly.

Our complaints tell us what we care about. (We don’t tend to complain about things that don’t matter to us.)

So this week, we are going to revisit Complaint to Commitment as a tool both for ourselves and for the people we lead.

Before We Begin
